Experienced Mechanics
Only highly experienced Volvo technicians are considered for employment here: There won't ever
be a "new guy" learning the basics on your car. The owner, Art Lyon, has over a dozen years of
daily Volvo service and repair work experience. He has also completely restored over thirty Volvos,
and completely dismantled almost that many more for an intimate understanding of the cars
reaching literally to the bone.
Highest Quality Parts
Our focus is on the long-term needs of the car, so we use mostly Genuine Volvo or OEM parts.
OEM means parts made by the company that originally made them for Volvo, usually on the same
assembly line. Where possible, aftermarket parts are offered if they offer a comparable value.
However, experience has shown that a lot of the parts on the market are of such poor quality that
they aren't worth the price difference. Volvos are long-lasting cars, and it doesn't make sense to
replace a part that lasted 12 years with one that won't last 12 months. We have tried all the brands
over the years, and stick with the ones that last.
Good Prices On The Best Parts, Too!
Fjords offers Genuine Volvo parts at the same price as the Volvo dealer, thanks to our wholesale
connections. (Many independents must buy dealer parts at retail and mark them up from there.) We also
offer OEM and top aftermarkets parts and even used parts at a great discount below dealer list
where possible. In summary, our price policy is, "Never more than dealer list, often less."
Accurate Diagnosis
Advancing technology has made diagnostic skills more important than ever in the automotive
industry. Some shops "diagnose" cars by replacing parts until it starts, then sell it all to the
customer. Every day we see cars come in where a lot of perfectly good, high quality parts have
been replaced with extremely cheap parts that are already going bad, while the original problem
they were supposed to cure is still occurring. Fjords of Sweden operates by knowing how the parts
are designed to work and testing them against specifications before deciding to replace. There is
also a large supply of "test parts" on hand to verify a difficult diagnosis before selling something.
On a no-start diagnosis, we repair the ONE THING that made the car stop running, provided no one
else has attempted to repair it first. An up-front diagnostic fee may sound expensive, but it means
you won't end up buying parts and services you don't need.
Same Day Turnaround
Everyone needs their car to get around in modern society, so our shop is set up to do everything the
car needs in a single day. For everything from a routine service (even needing a special Volvo part)
to diagnosing unusual problems, just drop the car off in the morning. That evening the car will be
ready to go. We can arrange to have a rental car company pick you up for your convenience.
Because high quality work takes time and there is a steady demand for it, we usually can't offer
while-you-wait service. Remember, no one wants to be without their car, and any shop can offer to
start working on a car right away. Fjords of Sweden offers to finish the car the same day, and we
almost always deliver!
A Mechanic's Mechanic
General repair and non-Volvo mechanics as well as used car dealers, frequently refer their toughest
diagnoses to Fjords of Sweden. We also help local mechanics out of jams with good deals on parts
that are hard to find on short notice, often in cases where something broke unexpectedly during
repairs. We offer full professional courtesy to shops needing sublet work; we love mechanics who hate Volvos!
